Godparent proposal gift: a book that can ask the question
To ask someone to be your child's godmother or godfather, you can give them an illustrated book that tells your story together, and whose last page can ask the question. The two heroes are you and the person you're asking, drawn from two photos; the baby is mentioned in the story, not drawn as a third character.

Why a book to ask the question
"Will you be my child's godmother?" fits in one sentence, which is a little short for what it means. You are asking someone to matter in your child's life for a long time. The right moment is when that person understands why it's them, and not someone else.
A book says it better than a card: it tells your story, the scenes that prove you chose each other long before the birth, and then comes the question. It isn't a photo album where pictures are lined up: the story is written from your memories.
Who are the heroes, and the baby?
The book tells the story of two characters, from two photos: the parent who asks, and the future godmother or godfather. The baby, expected or already born, is mentioned in the story: you talk about them, their name or the round belly, without them being drawn.
If you're asking two people, a godmother and a godfather, each book tells your story with one of them: two orders, two different stories.

The story of your bond, up to the question
- ✦ How you met: where, when, and the first impression, often wrong.
- ✦ What proves the bond: the call at the worst moment, the trip, being there when it mattered.
- ✦ What this person would do for your child: how they are with other people's kids, their humor, what you'd like them to pass on.
- ✦ The pregnancy announcement or the baby's arrival, seen through your eyes.
- ✦ The last page: the question, asked in your words. You can ask for the story to end on this question; you check it during the review, before printing.
To find what to write, our page letter to my child offers sentence ideas that suit a parent.
Before or after the birth?
- ✦ Before the birth: you have time. The printed book takes about ten days between ordering and delivery, 48-hour review included.
- ✦ After the birth: the baby may already be in your arms, a lovely moment to hand over the book in person.
- ✦ If you're in a hurry: the digital book is ready in about 2 hours (24 hours at most) and is sent by link.

Style and dedication
A soft style suits the moment: watercolor, or vintage for nostalgia. If your bond is more playful, manga works too. To compare all six, see our page which illustration style to choose.
A dedication can be added and printed in the book: just write to us after you order. See our book dedication ideas.
How to prepare the book, step by step
- Choose the style. The free preview shows the duo drawn before you order.
- Add two photos: one of you, one of the person you are asking, faces sharp and front-facing.
- Tell the story. A questionnaire guides you: where, when, what makes you laugh, the moments to keep. Ten to fifteen minutes is enough.
- Review. You have 48 hours to read the book and ask for changes. Nothing is printed without your approval.
The book always keeps two heroes; other people are mentioned in the story, with their names and running gags.
