How to write your own reasons

  • ✦ Be concrete. "Because you always know where the key is" beats "because you're wonderful".
  • ✦ Use the everyday. Small things repeated every day say more than big declarations.
  • ✦ One sentence per reason. Short, with a detail that belongs only to the two of you.
  • ✦ Any order. Mix serious and funny: a list of a hundred reasons that is only serious gets tiring.

The examples below speak to "you", as you do with the person you love. Replace the brackets with your names, places and objects.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write a "why I love you" list?
Start from scenes, not adjectives. "Because you called the plumber on a Sunday for me" says more than "because you're kind". One reason, one sentence, one detail.
How many reasons should I write?
As many as you like: ten are enough if they are precise, a hundred if time allows. Twenty concrete reasons beat a hundred generic ones.
Can I reuse these reasons in a LoomyBook?
Yes, in two ways. You can slip a few into a dedication, added after you order (just write to us) and printed in the book, or use them as memories to tell in the story.
Can I give this as a surprise?
Yes. A letter, a jar or an illustrated book can all be prepared in secret. For the book, one photo of the other person is all you need.
